“A ship is safest in harbor, but that’s not what ships are built for”
Jonathan Coleman, CFA
Associate Financial Planner
Jonathan joined Goddard Financial Planning in 2017, after a decade in the investment industry. While he has a deep interest in investing, he believes that this is only part of the picture, and feels at home at Goddard, a firm that puts these values into practice. He is working on his experience qualification for the CFP designation, and looks forward to developing a career that will provide an opportunity for lifetime learning, and the reward of helping people take control of their financial lives and achieve their goals.
Jonathan supports the existing planners in the firm by analyzing client’s portfolios and prepping for meetings. He looks forward to the opportunity of working directly with clients and impacting people’s lives in a meaningful way.

Outside the office
Jonathan can be found on Saturday mornings watching English football, and much of the rest of the week daydreaming about it. This doesn’t quite make up for Saturday afternoons at the match with his dad, but it helps. He has a minor (and mostly benign) addiction to trying to beat the stock market. Experience and common sense suggest this is futile, but he enjoys the pursuit, while keeping most of his retirement portfolio in low cost index funds. A non-Seattle native, he is slowly becoming more of an outdoors person, and is frequently amazed and inspired by his colleagues.
